Today, Royal Thai Government by the Ministry of Science and Technology sheds the limelight on one of the most awe-inspiring projects in astronomy ever known to Thailand – International Training Centre in Astronomy under the auspices of UNESCO (ITCA). ITCA is the first Category II centre under the auspices of UNESCO that specializes in astronomy, also marking its first-ever Category II centre in Thailand.

Today, Dr. Saran Poshyachinda, NARIT Executive Director declared open ITCA Colloquium – Astronomy for STEM Education at Pullman Bangkok Hotel G in Bangkok, Thailand. ITCA or International Training Centre in Astronomy under the auspices of UNESCO is the newly established centre hosted by National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand as the first ever Category 2 centre under the auspices of UNESCO in the field of Astronomy. Other guests of honour included H.E. Satu Sukkari Kleven, Finnish Ambassador to Thailand and Mr. Permsuk Sutchaphiwat, Assistant Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology of Thailand.
