Planetarium
The planetarium features a full-dome digital system with a maximum resolution of 8K. It has a diameter of approximately 17 meters and a capacity of 160 seats, with each show lasting around 60 minutes. The program is divided into two parts:
1. Basic stargazing, including information on constellations visible in the sky, which change weekly, as well as various celestial objects such as the Moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies, and nebulae. Additionally, there is a simulation of interesting astronomical phenomena expected to occur during that period.
2. The second part features astronomy films in a full-dome format with a maximum resolution of 8K. More than 10 different films are shown on a rotating schedule each month. The content is diverse, including astronomy films for children, films for students aligned with their curriculum, films on advancements in astronomical technology, films about celestial objects and the universe, space exploration films, and even interactive films for audience participation.
Astronomy Exhibition
The astronomy exhibition is interactive, focusing on self-guided learning through equipment and instructional videos, with staff available for additional guidance. The exhibition is divided into three main zones:
1. Basic Astronomy: This section provides an introduction to astronomy, covering topics such as exploring the solar system, the sounds of the universe, cosmic ray detectors, astronomical studies of spectrums, observing constellations, the relationship between pupils and light intensity, storms on gas giants, meteorites, and the Foucault pendulum demonstrating Earth's rotation.
2. National Science Museum Square, Chiang Mai: A learning center for science, technology, and innovation, this area focuses on inspiring children and youth toward careers in science and technology. It features hands-on exhibitions and engaging activities that are fun, easy to understand, and educational. The goal is to inspire young people to pursue careers in new industries that will contribute to national development, offering expanded educational opportunities to youth in the region. The center spans more than 1,300 square meters.
3. Astronomy Insight: This exhibition delves deeper into specific astronomical topics such as the color of the sky, the speed of sound, pinhole cameras, the creation of telescope mirrors, infrared radiation, black holes, and the boundaries of the universe. Visitors can also learn about significant astronomical phenomena.
