NARIT operates a network of Thai Robotic Telescopes (TRT) located in Chile, China, Australia, and the United States for astronomical research. Currently, this network of automated telescopes is equipped solely with astronomical imaging devices and lacks spectrographs for spectral analysis of celestial objects. To address this limitation, NARIT has developed a compact low-resolution spectrograph.
The Compact Low Resolution Spectrograph (CoLoRS) was developed based on the Low Resolution Spectrograph (LRS), specifically designed for robotic telescopes. It includes an automated control system to enable rapid data collection and integration with NARIT's telescope control system. CoLoRS captures spectral data in the wavelength range of 400–800 nanometers using a grism for light dispersion, with a resolving power of 100–200
